Friday 5ves

About 15 minutes left on my chicken patties and the Office from last night,  so I’m going to make these a quick 5.  This is a pretty off the wall selection of music but some nice newly discovered music bits this from this week.  Music that’s from all over the map and all sorts of danceable tunes to jump-start your Friday night.   Oh and bear with me as I continue to try to make HM a bit more bloggable so that Mother’s too can use it andddddddd some things that I think you’ll enjoy it as well.

-Hope all my homies in Pennsylvania huck a snowball for me this weekend.

Enjoy.

Hot Chip – Take It in [DL]
One of the first ones I’ve heard from their new cd.  But I can tell already this is a favorite.  The song has a darkened black bass line with fierce pulsating notes  but as soon as the chorus erupts its a tune to that just sticks in your head, one you kind of like.

The Selfish Replicators – Strands [DL]

Haven’t gotten the chance to do much digging on these guys yet and I don’t think there’s much to dig up as their Myspace page has only 1,700 views. Think Grizzly Bear with thick drum and bass lines with melodic vocal stylings.  This song was on heavy repeat this week.

Cassette Kids – Lying Around [DL]

I’m a complete sucker for catchy indie female pop music.  There I said it,  but I have no shame and this song is a testament to what I’m talking about.

Q and Not U – Wonderful People [DL]

This song has a high nostalgic value to me and brings me straight back to studying for college finals and when I used to break and try to match the lead singers falsetto while playing air guitar.  This was a nice treat to stumble upon this week.

Mt Eden Dubstep – Sierra Leone [DL]

Usually I’m not down with the whole dubstep craze but for some reason the subtle Transformer like noises and the cavernous sounding vocals did it for me upon first listen.
